There's still time to access support!

Cultivating care with NEUROMANCERS

Hey Divergents!

January can be tough. In the Northern Hemisphere it’s dark and cold, the headlines feel increasingly overwhelming and the capitalist machine is still shoving “New Year, new you” nonsense down our throats.

We have a number of different ways our community is offering support over the coming weeks, in ways that honour our divergent bodyminds and align with our values of autonomous, abolitionist and accessible mental health care. Keep reading to find out more 💌

❤️‍🩹 Returning to Solidarity - A support group for Black + Brown, LGBTQ, neurodivergent+ people! ❤️‍🩹

In these challenging times, join NEUROMANCERS to unmask and hold our grief, distress, and shame as we cultivate a space for solidarity as Black + Brown, neurodivergent+, queer people.

As we collectively witness the rise of fascism and increasingly far right politics, we’re asking: how do we want to “show up” and “show solidarity” this year? This group will explore what showing up and having solidarity can be for our Black + Brown, neurodivergent+ and queer selves, communities, and kin.

We will be facilitating an online space which holds the burnout, internalised ableism, shame, and guilt that often gets between us and solidarity. In practicing Peer Solidarity, holding compassion, engaging somatic tools, and embodying abolitionist principles, we hope to explore what showing up with grace can be and mean for us all.

This space is exclusively and only available to people who are self-identified as
Neurodivergent+; Black or Brown; AND LGBTQ+.

1:1 Peer Counselling with NEUROMANCERS

About the Offering❤️‍🩹

✨ NEUROMANCERS is offering our neurodivergent+ community free, 1:1 support for six (6) weeks.

🧠 This mental health support offering provides an affirming-space to explore…

  • struggles with mental health or relationships

  • challenging or traumatising experiences

  • negative impacts from mainstream mental health systems

  • coping mechanisms, boundaries, or safety planning

  • and more!

The support is flexible to your needs and takes place online on an end-to-end encrypted platform. You can choose to have your camera off/on or even use the chat.

You will meet with your Peer Counsellor each week, at the same time and day, for one (1) hour. The sessions will run from week commencing 9th February to the 16th March.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not crisis support.

Who can access this support?

We offer this program to people self-identified as neurodivergent+ who are 18 years or older.

You must be based in England, Ireland, Scotland, or Wales. You must have access to the internet and a device that is suitable for attending online meetings.

Please apply if you are confident that you will attend all six (6) support sessions.

Who offers the support?

This program is delivered by students who are volunteering within NEUROMANCERS on their university course placements.

These students are not qualified therapists or mental health professionals. Each person has been vetted via our application and interview process.

The Peer Counsellors all have lived experience with neurodivergence and have been trained by NEUROMANCERS.

All Peer Counsellors must abide by our consent-led and abolitionist safeguarding policy and practices.

How can I request support?

We’ll be in touch during the week commencing 26th of January to let you know if we’re able to offer you support.

If so, the six (6) sessions will run from week commencing 9th February to the 16th March.

PLEASE NOTE: There are many variables when attempting to match you with a Peer Counsellor, including availability, lived experiences, or capacity. We expect to receive more applications for support than we’re able to offer. Therefore, completing an application/request form does not guarantee support.

Additional questions? Contact NEUROMANCERS. We'll reply ASAP.

✨ Hang in there y’all
